  • Baseball gets big win against Thomas More

    This past Friday, April 8th the baseball team took home a victory against Thomas More by a score of 8-0. Led by the pitching of Armand Saraj, he threw a complete game two hit shut out for the Celtic Warriors. With the victory, it puts Saint Lawrence Academy at the top of the PSAL with a record of 4-1 in league and a 4-3 overall record.

    As of late, the Celtic Warriors have been led by some terrific hitting by the likes of Cody Barela, Andres Duenas and Armand Saraj who are all hitting above .400. And outfielder Brandon Kubogamell who is hitting a whopping .588.

    This week the Celtic Warriors have three games going up against the likes of Wilcox and KIPP Collegiate.

  • Congrats to Surabhi Jogelekar: CCS Scholar-Athlete award winner

    Congratulations to Surabhi Jogelekar, as she was awarded the C.C.S. Scholar -Athlete award for the Private School Athletic League girls division. She will receive a $500 scholarship to contribute to college next year for her efforts in the classroom as well as on the athletic courts. Surabhi will be honored in April at a C.C.S. sponsored breakfast along with the other female and male Scholar-Athletes within the C.C.S. and their respective leagues. She is in the running for a possible additional $1000 college scholarship.

    Over the last four years Surabhi has put in a tremendous amount of effort within the classroom, and on the tennis and basketball courts as well as competing for the track and field team. Congratulations once again to Surabhi for receiving this prestigious award. Go Celtic Warriors!

  • Basketball season ends with both varsity squads making CCS

    The last basketball season for Saint Lawrence Academy came to a close as the girls varsity lost to Pacific Collegiate, and the boys to Crystal Springs-Uplands respectively. The girls gave a great fight to the Pumas of Pacific Collegiate, ending with a loss by the score of 34-26. Nastassia Ponomarenko contributed nine points, while Audrey Portugal came off the bench to add 7 points. Miranda Ventura had a stellar game defensively, pulling down 9 rebounds and blocking 9 shots in the paint.

    The boys basketball team hung close with the Gryphons of Crystal Springs for the first half, being down only two points. The third quarter was tough and the Celtic Warriors did not recover. They fought hard in the final quarter with key contributions from Myles Gustafson, Brandon Kubogamell and Anthony Baretto. But losing in the end. Both teams qualified for the PSAL league tournament with the girls claiming the #1 seed in the south and the boys taking the #2 seed in the south division.
