Student Council gives students a voice in determining school activities and environment. It helps promote activities for the entire student body at Saint Lawrence Academy and fosters a positive climate throughout the school.
The Council consists of an Executive Board and four Class Councils who are responsible for representing the ideas and needs of their individual grade levels. Since Student Council is modeled on our representative form of government and is intended to promote leadership skills. As such, being a member of student council is both an honor and a challenge. Members plan and organize a multitude of student activities including dances, rallies, homecoming events, blood drives, Cardboard Box City, and the Mr. Celtic Pageant. Student Council requires its members be hardworking, creative, and fun-loving students who can handle responsibility. To be eligible, a student must file a petition for nomination with the Director of Student Activities and be in good academic standing. Elections for freshmen are held in September while elections for sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and Executive Board take place in the spring. Interested students may run for class office or Executive Board elections.
