Performing Arts at Saint Lawrence Academy is inclusive rather than exclusive. Any student who wishes to participate in our performing arts groups may do so without worry of being "cut"; all interested students will have an opportunity to perform.

Whereas other schools limit the number of students who can participate, Saint Lawrence Academy encourages growth in numbers in these programs. Our Performing Arts Director Ms. Mary Carroll believes that every student deserves the opportunity to "shine." Whether you are a singer, dancer, actor, or stage hand, Ms. Carroll will provide you with a role within the program. Our school choir encourages all students who love to sing or play a musical instrument to join, regardless of your previous experience or level of expertise.
Our spring musical is staged with roles for every student who auditions; these roles are not token however as each performer gets their individual moment to "shine" on the stage. Students have an opportunity to fine tune already established skills or to perform for the first time in their lives. Students learn skills that they will carry with them for a lifetime - poise, teamwork, technical skills, and more.
The biggest opportunity I was given at SLA was the lead roles in the spring musicals all four years. This opportunity has helped me arrive where I am today, a musical theater major.”

The Performing Arts program also encourages alumni to take connected with the program. Many of the jobs associated with the Spring Musical are covered by alumni as members of the orchestra, sound and lighting crew, set design and more. A special musical alumni night occurs each spring with the recognition of performing arts alumni.
