Development / Alumni

No gift is too small and all gifts are greatly appreciated. You can invest in the future of Saint Lawrence Academy through one of the following options:
- Annual Advancement Campaign
- A Gift of Cash
- Making a Pledge
- Matching Gifts
- A Gift of Securities
- Establish a Memorial or Tribute
- Planned Giving
A Gift of Cash
- By credit card
- By sending a check (made out to Saint Lawrence Academy) to the Academy.
- By calling the Development Office at 408-296-3013 ext. 322 and charging your credit card via the phone.
Making a Pledge
You may make a gift to Saint Lawrence Academy that suits your schedule and your budget. You can decide how much you wish to give and when you wish to make your payments. You may direct us to set up a payment schedule for payment by check and we will bill you monthly, quarterly or semi-annually. Simply complete the Annual Advancement Campaign pledge card and mail it to the Academy. If you wish to have your payment charged to your credit card, please indicate this preference on your pledge card. Your card will be automatically charged according to schedule.
Matching Gifts
A matching gift by your company or organization extends your generosity by adding the matching amount to your own gift at no additional expense to you. It is easy to make a matching gift.
- Contact your Human Resources Department and inquire about your company's matching employee donations policy.
- Follow the procedures they recommend.
- Designate Saint Lawrence Academy as your gift recipient.
A Gift of Securities
A donor who owns appreciated securities can benefit in two ways by making a gift of securities to Saint Lawrence Academy. First, the donor will be able to claim a charitable income tax deduction for the full value of the shares and second, the donor will be able to avoid the capital gains tax that would have been due if they sold the shares. When making a gift of securities, it is important that you arrange for a direct transfer of your securities to the Diocese of San Jose in the name of Saint Lawrence Academy and not sell them yourself. To help facilitate the transfer, contact David Bruce, Business Manager, at dbruce@missionsupportservices.net.
Establish a Memorial or Tribute
Do you wish to honor the memory of a loved one or close friend? A gift to Saint Lawrence Academy Endowment may be the way to do it. The amount of your gift becomes part of the principal of the Endowment and is never touched. The interest generated from the principal is used for tuition assistance. To establish a memorial or tribute, or to make a gift to an existing memorial, send your donation to the Development Office.
Planned Giving
Through Planned Giving, donors can make an important gift to Saint Lawrence Academy. This gift can be organized in such a way to coordinate the donor's objectives with his or her overall estate and financial plan.
In most cases, planned gifts not only will benefit Saint Lawrence Academy, but can benefit the donor, as well. This is because many planned gifts can be structured to allow the donor to retain income from, or the use of, the gifted property during his or her lifetime. Planned gifts can also be structured to reduce, and in some cases, eliminate income, capital gains, and estate taxes.
All bequests can make a powerful contribution to the future of Saint Lawrence Academy. The Saint Lawrence Academy Development Office would be pleased to discuss with you, or your accountant or attorney, the variety of ways to include Saint Lawrence Academy in your estate or financial planning through one or more planned gifts.
