Catholic Experience

Our Catholic faith and traditions are at core of a Saint Lawrence Academy community. Rooted in Catholic traditions, Campus Ministry encourages students to embrace the moral and theological teachings of Jesus and apply those teachings to one's own life.

A comprehensive program of liturgies, reconciliations, prayer, retreats, community service and ongoing spiritual development greets a student upon arrival.  These programs allow students to participate at a level which is most comfortable to him/her and to grow spiritually as is appropriate.

Whether one is attending an overnight retreat, reflecting upon a scripture reading, planning a school reconciliation service or engaging in conversation with our Director of Campus Ministry, each contact is an opportunity for a Saint Lawrence Academy student to reflect on oneself, others, and God.  There is a place within our Catholic community for students of all faith backgrounds and experiences.

In collaboration with our parish, Saint Lawrence the Martyr Parish, students have the opportunity to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation, serve as a liturgical minister, or participate in communal worship.  The parish chapel is available for student use each day.

Community service is part of our graduation requirements.  While a requirement, many students see community service as an opportunity to give back to their community, to put social justice into action, and to apply the lessons they have learned in Religious Studies classes to real-life situations.  The vast majority of Saint Lawrence Academy graduates complete more than their required 100 hours of community service.
