Individualized Curriculum Program

The Individualized Curriculum Program is designed to address student needs through an extended learning program.

Saint Lawrence Academy's program provides an unique option for students with a wide variety of interests and abilities.  Whether you are a student looking for additional academic challenges, a student with a specialized interest or talent, or a student who needs additional academic support, this program may be a great educational option for you.

  • Juniors and Seniors who may be ready for honors, advanced placement, or advanced level courses beyond those that are routinely available.
  • The student may have an outstanding gift or talent in a particular area that should be cultivated.
  • The student may have difficulty in specific areas of a traditional college prep curriculum.
  • The student may need supplementary academic support in a specific subject.

The Individualized Curriculum Program

The Individualized Curriculum Program will be available to both prospective and current students as a supplement to our regular program.  Grouped with others in the program, students will work independently under the guidance of a faculty monitor. This program:

  • provides an individualized approach to help students reach their own true potential.
  • broadens the curriculum offerings and extends the learning program.
  • addresses a wide range of student abilities and learning styles to achieve improved student learning outcomes.
  • provides an alternative means to complete course work for graduation.
  • customizes the curriculum by providing options that fit individual needs, skills and interests.
  • alleviates scheduling conflicts that often prevent students from taking all the specific electives they desire.
  • allows students to pursue special talents and interests within the curriculum.

By nature of the program, it will be limited in the number of students accepted each year.  Accepted students will spend the majority of their day in a traditional classroom setting, potentially taking a maximum of two classes in the Individualized Curriculum Program.

Interested students will be required to complete an application to the Individual Curriculum Program.  Applications will be available at the time of class registration.

Placement in the program will be determined by:

  • Grades
  • Standardized testing
  • Teacher recommendation
  • Ability to work in a focused, independent manner for a sustained period of time.
  • Possible interview
