When is a conversation between two characters more than a conversation? What is the difference between fiction and non-fiction?  The English Department at Saint Lawrence Academy is committed to providing students with the opportunity to develop their skills in reading, writing, speaking and writing both critically and creatively.  Students are challenged to develop both their oral and written skills as well as gain an appreciation for the various genres of English.

Creativity in lesson presentation is a key to our English Department.  A visitor to our English Department might wander in on a discussion of Victorian insults, view PowerPoint presentations on a musician, writer, or cultural phenomenon from a specific time period, or participate in a game of Greek mythology.
