Saint Lawrence the Martyr Parish was established in 1959 under the leadership of the founding pastor, Reverend Victor Wilkiemeyer.
Saint Lawrence Elementary School was opened in 1961. Saint Lawrence High School opened as a girls' high school in 1968 but closed in 1973, after the Sisters of Loretto withdrew from the parish. In 1975, Father Wilkiemeyer established Lawrence Academy as a coeducational secondary school by separating the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades from the military school and moving them into the present Academy building. The first class of seniors graduated from Lawrence Academy in 1980. The school's name was changed to Saint Lawrence Academy in 1989. In 1994, the sixth and seventh grades moved to the newly constructed Middle School, followed by the eighth grade in 1995. Therefore, Saint Lawrence Academy has been established solely as a high school only since 1995.
